Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has a long history of engagement in the 16 days campaign, which includes developing tools and resources to inspire its member churches and country programs to participate in the campaign. This year LWF joins the campaign under the UN theme Unite: Activism to end violence against women and girls.
Some of the campaign activities include:
Profiling gender champions from LWF country programs and member churches who are working to combat sexual and gender based violence in the communities.
Prayers and bible studies to initiate dialogue on violence in the churches and communities.
A social media campaign using the LWF GIFs and other social media tools
Webinars and dialogues
Upcoming activities:
A joint webinar with partners to explore how religious engagement in protection from GBV in forced displacement could be strengthened in the humanitarian sector. It provides a platform to exchange experiences and lessons learnt among faith and secular actors in relation to protection from GBV against forced migrants. The webinar discussions will help build evidence of the role of faith actors in responding to GBV in forced displacement emergencies and to co-develop recommendations on how to work with religious actors to support responses to GBV in forced migration.
