16 Days of Activism - Day 6

Written by Victoria Edmonds, International Social Justice Commission, Salvation Army

The theme by UN Women’s Orange the World campaign for this year is: Fund, Respond, Prevent, and Collect.

The campaign is part of UN Women's effort for Beijing+25 and building up to launch bold new actions and commitments to end violence against women at the Generation Equality Forum in Mexico and France in 2021.

UN Women's Generation Equality campaign is amplifying the call for global action to bridge funding gaps, ensure essential services for survivors of violence during the COVID-19 crisis, focus on prevention and collection of data that can improve life-saving services for women and girls.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

We come to you today asking that you hear and answer our prayer that we bring to you.

We bring before you the 243 million women and girls who have abused by a partner or someone in their family or someone they know.

We know that in this mist of the violence women and girls continue to carry water for miles and continue to farm the gardens for food to eat.

We pray for those who have been forced in trafficking either in sex trafficking or domestic working.

We prayer for those girls that are experience female gentile mutilation that you will send the comfort to them to heal from the terrible experience and come along side of them.

We pray for those women and girls who are forced to leave their home to work so they can work and take care of the rest of the family but leave in fear of what to expect.

Lord we ask that you break the chains of abuse. Set free women and girls from this life of abuse.

We pray for changes in our churches that they will deal with gender-based violence when they are made aware of it.

Hear the voices of women and girls in those silent places where we don’t see them.

So, Lord, we commit to you this prayer for the victims of gender-based violence ask you will hear their cry and send your comfort.

We ask in Jesus name

Amen
